About Kelly Thompson
Kelly’s plans are not aggressive enough in taxing the top 10% to balance our budget, fund needed programs, and pay off the debt. Let’s use the 16th amendment the way it was meant.
Kelly’s plan to change estate laws does not go far enough to protect all family businesses and her corporate farm tax program ads unneeded bureaucracy.
Kelly speaks of many problems with affordable housing but most non-financial issues are controlled by state and local governments. The federal government can keep interest rates down and increase wages with good fiscal policy. Good policy will rebuild the middle class which by definition has affordable housing.
Kelly advocates a Cannabis Freedom Bill and certainly the federal government should reschedule cannabis as a schedule IV or V drug but the war on drugs must end, the collateral damage from this war is just too severe and of course Kelly proposes a federal excise tax.
I largely agree with Kelly on strengthening the Sherman and Clayton Anti-trust Acts but her solution to income inequality seems to involve numerous new taxes and fees, I believe the solution is to raise the top marginal rate and eliminate CG and QD rates altogether. Tax those that can afford to pay and then invest the money wisely to develop our people, resources, and economy.
The solution to child care and education is not new speculation fees and more bureaucracy. We need a truly constitutionally conservative court that would overturn Zelman v. Simons-Harris. More importantly Congress must invest in developing our greatest natural resource, our people.
